The challenge

Traffic exploded
but the website couldn't keep up

Within months of opening, YAKUN became one of Los Angeles's hottest restaurants, with celebrities such as Daniel Wu among its regulars. Demand exploded.

Its original website couldn't handle that demand. Guests lined up outside, but online the restaurant looked like an ordinary template site — a gap that badly undercut its premium image.

How it converts

Michelin-level restraint
that attracts high-value diners

In the rebuild we dropped the conventional menu-list layout, combining a premium feel with a sense of scarcity: large dark fields and minimal typography showcase the detail of every dish.

That Michelin-level visual language and a restrained, smooth reservation flow turn curious visitors into high-value, long-term guests.

Design & build process

Four core stages
01 Audience analysis & repositioning

We studied what celebrity-driven visitors actually wanted to see, and repositioned the site from simple information to an online extension of the fine dining experience.

02 Visual direction

Reflecting LA's high-end aesthetic, we used a premium dark palette with minimal white space and removed every distraction, so the ingredients themselves are the star.

03 High-converting reservation funnel

Traffic means nothing if booking is hard. We cut unnecessary steps and placed reservation entry points beside the brand's strongest moments, shortening the path to a booking.

04 Mobile-first launch

Most of a trending restaurant's traffic arrives from social media on phones. We invested heavily in mobile interactions and first-screen load speed for a seamless experience.
